The client

Basso Fedele & Figli S.r.l., known worldwide under the Olio Basso brand and the premium line Basso 1904, is a company with over 120 years of history in the production and marketing of edible oils. Founded in 1904, it is headquartered in San Michele di Serino (AV), Campania, and is today led by the fifth generation of the family.

The company produces extra virgin olive oil, pomace oil, sunflower-olive blends and seed oils. With revenues exceeding €100 million and an export share above 80% reaching over 91 countries, Olio Basso is among Italy's leading players in the olive oil sector, with a strong presence in international retail and HORECA markets.

The challenge

Untracked production processes
Across multiple divisions, production lines, machines and heterogeneous sensors, there was no centralised system to track and monitor in real time operational times, consumption and machine status.
Manual quality and maintenance
Quality controls and maintenance management were carried out on paper or with disconnected tools, making it impossible to prevent breakdowns, act on non-conformities in real time and ensure full product traceability.
No visibility on energy consumption
Without an energy monitoring module, it was impossible to identify waste, consumption anomalies or efficiency opportunities across the entire production plant.

The Key4 solution

Key4 deployed the full IndustryHub suite — all 6 modules — achieving complete production digitalisation: from materials management to quality control, from predictive maintenance to energy monitoring, through to IIoT connectivity with machines and sensors.

01
IndustryHub Production & Material
Full modelling of the production process: divisions, lines, machines and human resources. Automatic and manual tracking of operational times. Bill of materials management, storage structure with locations, material transfer orders and raw material loading into machines.
MES · Full traceability
02
IndustryHub Maintenance & Energy
Real-time breakdown reporting, management of condition-based, cyclical and corrective maintenance, spare parts cards and maintenance personnel registry. In parallel, continuous energy consumption monitoring to optimise performance and detect anomalies.
Predictive maintenance · Energy management
03
IndustryHub Quality & IIoT
Paperless management of in-process quality controls: machine operators and the quality office automatically feed SPC control charts. The IIoT module bidirectionally connects machines and sensors via major industrial protocols, with non-invasive wired or wireless installation.
Paperless quality · IIoT connectivity
04
Intralogistics analysis & WMS roadmap
At the end of implementation, Key4 produced a complete report on intralogistics and storage processes, correlated to the production process. The analysis identified inefficiencies and opportunities, defining the technical specifications for a future WMS implementation.
